Justin Borgman

Hadapt

Justin is Co-Founder and CEO of Hadapt.  Prior to Hadapt, Justin led product development for COVECTRA, an anti-counterfeit technology firm.  Before that, Justin founded an online social media company and spent the first six years of his career as a software developer at MIT Lincoln Laboratory and Raytheon.

Justin has a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar, and attended graduate school at the Yale School of Management.

 
 

Dr. Daniel Abadi

Hadapt

Daniel is a recognized expert in database systems and one of the inventors of the patent-pending Adaptive Analytical Platform™.

Daniel received his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his dissertation on column-store database systems led to the founding of Vertica (recently acquired by Hewlett Packard).  He is a recipient of a Churchill Scholarship, an NSF CAREER Award, a Sloan Research Fellowship, the 2008 SIGMOD Jim Gray Doctoral Dissertation Award, and the 2007 VLDB best paper award.

In addition to serving as Chief Scientist at Hadapt, he also serves as a faculty member in Yale University’s Computer Science department.

 
 

Felda Hardymon

Bessemer Venture Partners

Felda Hardymon, a partner in Bessemer’s Cambridge, Mass. office, joined the firm in 1981. He focuses on investments in the software, communications and storage sectors. He serves on the boards of Vertica (acquired by HP), Streambase, Goal.com (acquired by Perform), Endeca and SVB Financial Group (aka Silicon Valley Bank).

Past investments include superconducting materials company American Superconductor (NASDAQ: AMSC); telecommunications providers Cascade Communications (acquired by Ascend) and Sirocco (acquired by Cascade); Celcore, a maker of switches for wireless-telephone networks (acquired by DSC); African telecommunications provider Celtel (acquired by MTC, now called Zain); Parametric Technology, a provider of product cycle-management software; sporting-goods chain Sports Authority; office-supply company Staples; and Axis Networks (acquired by ACE) a 4G, wireless-remote radio head supplier.

Since 1998, Felda also has taught and done research at Harvard Business School where he holds the appointment of MBA Class of 1975 Professor of Management Practice. He is currently on leave from Harvard and is a visiting professor of finance at The London School of Economics. Prior to joining Bessemer, Felda worked at BDSI, the original venture subsidiary of General Electric, where he was an investor in Ungermann-Bass, Stratus Computer and Western Digital. Prior to that, he taught mathematics and served as director of systems and research at Duke University.

Felda has a B.S. from Rose Polytechnic, an M.A. and Ph.D from Duke and an MBA from Harvard.

 
 

Matthew Howard

Norwest Venture Partners

Matt brings over 20 years of experience in marketing, product management, engineering, business development, and sales in a wide range of technologies to Norwest Venture Partners. Matt has appeared on the Forbes Midas List as a top 100 investor for three years.

Matt focuses his efforts on communication and storage systems, embedded systems, mobile/wireless, security and rich media. He currently serves on the boards of Avere Systems, Blue Jeans Network, ConteXtream, Hadapt, MobileIron, Retrevo and Summit Microelectronics. He is a board observer at FireEye and ShotSpotter. Previously, Matt was on the board of Airespace (acquired by Cisco Systems), Omneon (acquired by Harmonic), Reconnex (acquired by McAfee), Skystream Networks (acquired by Tandberg Television), SpectraLinear (acquired by Silicon Laboratories), Spinnaker Networks (acquired by Network Appliance), Swan Labs (acquired by F5 Networks) and Webstacks (acquired by Extreme Networks). He was a board observer with Veraz Networks (Nasdaq: VRAZ), Yipes (acquired by Reliance/Flag Telecom) and ZettaCom (acquired by IDT). He previously served on the board of the Wireless Communications Alliance (WCA).

 
 

Sharmila Shahani-Mulligan

Sharmila was Chief Marketing Officer for Aster Data, leading product and marketing strategy. She created a new market category for Big Data Analytics and drove Aster Data to a leading position within it. Aster Data was acquired by Teradata in April, 2011. Prior to Aster Data, Sharmila was CMO of the largest business unit (BTO) within HP Software, and was responsible for a $3+ billion software products portfolio spanning all major aspects of IT management. Prior to HP, she was CMO at Opsware, where she joined Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz to re-position Loudcloud into a software company and formed Opsware in 2002, which was eventually acquired by HP for $1.65 billion; she has also held executive positions at Kiva Software, Netscape, AOL and Totality.

Dave Kellogg

Advisor

Dave was most recently a member of Aster Data’s board of directors up until the company’s acquisition in April 2011. Previously, he was CEO of MarkLogic, a pioneer in multi-structured data management and analysis, and grew the company’s revenues to $80 million. Prior to MarkLogic, Dave was SVP of Worldwide Marketing for Business Objects, where he helped drive the company’s growth from $30 million to $1 billion in annual revenue, over his nine-year tenure. Dave has also held executive positions at Versant and Ingres.

 
 

Avi Silberschatz

Advisor

Avi is the Sidney J. Weinberg Professor of Computer Science at Yale University. Prior to joining Yale, he was the Vice President of the Information Sciences Research Center at Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, New Jersey. Prior to that, he held a chaired professorship in the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include database systems, operating systems, storage systems, and network management.
